A Tale of Six Puppies: The True Power of Unity

A hope, a home: happiness. But how did it come to be? Our Independence Day, when firecrackers lit up the sky, we saluted and danced in honor of our magnificent and diverse nation, patriotism swelling our hearts with pride. While, behind our shelter, something cold and cruel was brewing: a hearltess someone in the shadows left six infant puppies, barely a few days old outside, in the pouring, relentless rain. However, this is not a story of despair and sorrow, but one of hope and joy. One of unity, and the power of togetherness to change lives.

When they were found, the residents were eager to meet them, to help them feel comforted. They were without their mother: just the six of them. They were cared for weeks, and the caretakers at the centre looked after them every minute. Everyone came together, to feed the puppies through the day as they needed to be fed every two hours.

Young children connected by the sparkle in their eyes, nurturing adults, people of all ages came to see them, spend time with them, creating memories and bonds for a lifetime.

The social groups woke up to their adorable pictures and interesting stories each day. And slowly, a sense of familiarization and comfort crept into their hearts, as the community became their home - their family.

When the puppies turned a month old, we started looking for homes for them. Posts spread around, multiple calls and sharings. Rain, Ruhi and Rottie were adopted by loving families and friends of residents, and Daku and Anmol by a caring resident himself. But Chess still remained, the only one left. So, we fostered him for two weeks: playing with him, spending time with him, and resting right by his side. And then, something magical happened: a close family friend of ours adopted him, so excited and empathetic from the moment he entered their home.

We are so extremely grateful to the beautiful souls and families that took them under their wing, and provided them not just a roof to stay under - but their love, warmth, and admiration.

And that is the power of togetherness, the power of people with willpower and true empathy to unite and work side by side to provide compassionate homes to six puppies who could have been without a family, on the streets, alone. The community of Nirvana will never forget, the puppies who lit up their lives, and jumped on them with so much affection - the puppies who stole a piece of their hearts, forever.
